Barbara Guidetti
Contemporary Painter, Switzerland
Born in Basel in 1961, Barbara Guidetti graduated from HEAD, Geneva in 1987, in the class of Shérif Defraoui. She subsequently exhibited in Switzerland and France before undertaking a long journey through Africa, Asia, and Europe.
An experience that proved decisive for her artistic and personal development. Her works are included in several private collections. She later deepened her research through philosophy, Jungian psychotherapy, yoga, and meditation.
Returning to Switzerland in 2011, she continued a practice that combines artistic work, inner exploration, and the teaching of meditation. Influenced by Kiefer, Richter, Tàpies, and American Abstract Expressionism, her painting is rooted in a performative process akin to ritual.
Through glazes, abrasions, and stratifications, she creates works that unfold as spaces of listening and contemplation. Forms emerge with discretion: suspended horizons, rarefied chromatic fields, circular nuclei of concentration; giving shape to a painting that does not assert, but accompanies; does not describe, but evokes.
